REGISTER NOWWHY I CREATED THIS
I love getting to nerd out on this stuff. I’m a self proclaimed running nerd with a super power for taking complex ideas, connecting the dots, and putting it together in a way that is easy to understand.
I love getting into the nitty gritty of form, positions, muscle actions, running biomechanics, etc.Â
I also know that what you can’t see, your physiology, can play a huge role in your experience.
I want to teach you to breathe, slow down, move intentionally, and step INTO your body (not tune out) and your power. To help you understand what your body is telling you, to learn its language, and support its needs.
I purely just want this resource to exist for you.
WHO IT'S FOR
You love running, love learning, and love learning about running. You’re someone who wants to know the why.
You want to look at the whole body as it works together to get out of that cycle of chasing one problem only to create another, to get out of your head and back into your joy with running.
You’ve tried all the things I’ve posted to my IG or shared in my emails, felt the difference, and now want to learn the why and how to apply it on a deeper level.
Â
You purely just want to nerd out about this with me, a fellow running nerd!
UNDERSTAND - APPLY - EXPERIMENT
How It Works and What's Included:
The Runner’s Lab is a 2 hour virtual masterclass, part powerpoint style education and part practice to move, feel, and experiment in your bodyÂ
Education on your physiology, stress resilience, running biomechanics and my 5 essential skills for an efficient stride so that you understand the “how” your body works together and the "why" behind the exercises and movements in the practice.
Practice with tuning into your physiology and the 5 essential skills so that you can feel and seamlessly apply it to your body and overall training strategy moving forward.
MYÂ 5 SKILLS FRAMEWORK
THE
STACK
Orient your ribcage over your pelvis to load effectively through your core and unlock your range of motion in all 3 planes.
STAND ON ONE LEG
...like really on it. That means being able to organize your center of mass over your stance leg - internally rotate into that hip, pronate your foot, load your glutes through length.
ROTATE
Rotate and counter-rotate through the feet (aka. pronation and supination), pelvis, and torso. We need to effectively rotate up and down the chain for efficient forward motion.
EXTEND
You propel yourself forward in your running stride through hip extension.Â
Mastering hip extension (with big toe extension) before knee extension will make propulsion more efficient.
ENERGY STORAGE
Efficiently store and release energy through each stride by mastering the first 4 skills and building strong, healthy tendons.
... all so that you can run with strength, power and efficiency!

ABOUT YOUR COACH
Alison Marie Helms, PhD.
Women's Running and Strength Coach
I'm a PhD engineer, NASM certified personal trainer, UESCA certified running coach, self proclaimed running nerd, and creator of the Women's Running Academy.
I’ve been a runner for 30 years and a professional in the industry for 10 years, I firmly believe my earlier life careers (engineering and teaching) have really shaped the way I look at all this stuff.
When asked what a chemical engineer does, my answer was always “make things more efficient.” That’s exactly what I do now with running - look at the details WITH the big picture to get the best possible result.
Going from teaching college level engineering classes to teaching middle school science sharpened my skill of taking complex ideas, connecting the dots, and putting it together in a way that is easy to understand. If I can get 100 12 year olds to understand and explain complex weather phenomena, I’ve got you here!
